First opened by Henry Bishop in the 1920's, the shop was later taken over by Dick & Dorothy Matins who converted the adjacent cottages into a restaurant and successfully run the business until their retirement in 1971. The Zelos family have been frying fish & chips for over 65 years and took over the business renaming it Dave's Fish Restaurant after one of Joe and Eileen Zelos's 7 sons (3 daughters too!). Joe had been frying fish and chips for many years and Eileen was the daughter of 'Winkle Abbs, a local fisherman from East Runton.
In 1975 their son John and his wife Beryl took over the running of the business and ran it succesfully until retirement in 2017.
In 2020 after a brief period under new ownership the business returned to the family and is presently owned and run by Sandra Catterall, Joe Zelos's youngest child and John's sister.
